{Ashley} Today's Look - 8/14/12

We've decided to expand the blog beyond just makeup, so I thought I'd do an overall look post. As many of you know, I'm a bit of (read: complete) accessories h00r. I love all things accessories, so this was a fun look using a few of my favorite accessories, include scarves! This look is all about embracing summer - before we know it, fall will be here!

Today's look was centered around the fact that I was going to be spending time in the car with my dog. Her name is SyCa (pronounced "CK"), but I call her Boo because when she sits just right, she looks like a little furry Buddha. I frequently rub her belly for good luck. So far, nothing has happened, but I keep trying.

Today we were going to the veterinary neurologist to get her staples removed from her surgery 2 weeks ago. Long story short, she hadn't been walking right since I got back from my vacation in June. She was walking like she was drunk when she actually walked, and tripped quite often. When she tripped and fell, she would have a hard time getting up. So, after some insane diagnoses and one really scary ass trip to my mom's in which she couldn't even stand up after the car ride, we finally found a new vet that recommend a neurology specialist. The veterinary specialist figured out it was a bulging disc in her neck causing a pinched nerve that was impacting her motor skills, including walking. The surgery removed the bulging disc that was causing the pinched nerve. Her staples were all removed today and doctor says she's so much better, maybe not 100%, but at least back to 90-95% of her mobility, which is amazing! (PLUG: If you live in the Charlotte or NC/SC area and have issues with your animal, I highly recommend Carolina Veterinary Specialist - they were hella expensive, but seriously, I have my dog back because of them, which is worth the cost.)

So, what does all this have to do with the look for today? Well, my dog is blonde and sheds like crazy. My outfit today had to be: work appropriate, comfortable, light colored (to hide the fur) but also dark enough to hide any stains she might leave from getting worked up in the car.

Any questions about the look, feel free to hit me up here or via email (wolfh00r@gmail.com) or Twitter (@wolfh00r)!

  1. Super cute!!! Love the scarf as a belt.

I noticed you went out a little further with the eye shadow ;) Looks excellent!

  2. I did! That's why I used the angled Sonya Kashuk brush, to draw the outline further so I knew my "boundaries" and could color inside from there. Seemed to help!

    1. awesome!! that's one reason I love using scotch tape.
